What Happened Yesterday in the World Cup & MLB — June 25, 2026
It’s Thursday. The World Cup is sending teams home and MLB keeps breaking bodies. Welcome to JackedUpSportz.
If it’s broken… If somebody got hurt… If a coach made a terrible decision… Or if the sports world collectively said, “What in the world was THAT?”
We’re here for it.
WORLD CUP 2026
BRAZIL ISN’T MESSING AROUND
Brazil reminded Scotland why they’re one of the tournament favorites.
A 3-0 win wasn’t just another victory — it punched Brazil’s ticket to the knockout rounds and left Scotland praying other results fall their way. Vinícius Jr. scored twice and was simply unplayable. Matheus Cunha added the third. Oh, and Neymar came off the bench in his first Brazil appearance in 981 days. The man hadn’t worn a Brazil shirt in nearly three years and still looked dangerous.
Why is this jacked up? Because we love the Scottish fans and were rooting for the underdog — but they got Jacked.
Jacked Up Meter: 4.5/10 Scotland entered the day with hope and drunk fans. They left with a hangover wondering if they’ll even survive the group stage.
MEXICO OWNS GROUP A
Mexico handled Czechia 3-0. Three wins out of three. Group A is theirs.
No drama. No controversy. Just business. Mateo Chavez opened the scoring in the 55th minute, Julian Quinones added his second goal of the tournament, and substitute Fidalgo curled one into the top corner in stoppage time.
Meanwhile South Korea lost to South Africa 1-0, throwing the rest of Group A into absolute jacked up chaos.
Most Jacked Up Result? South Korea entered as favorites. South Africa sent them packing.
MLB
THE PADRES WERE DEAD. NOW THEY’RE NOT. THE DODGERS SHOULD NOTICE.
A week ago, the Padres looked dead in the water.
Now? They just swept the Braves — their first sweep of Atlanta all season and the Braves’ first sweep of any kind since August 2025 — won three straight, and are heading into a massive showdown with the Dodgers carrying serious momentum.
The biggest surprise was JP Sears, making his first major league start of the season after being called up from Triple-A El Paso. The man had a 7.92 ERA in 14 Triple-A starts. He went 5.2 innings, gave up two runs, struck out five, and left with the win.
Ty France hit a 417-foot homer in the third, added a sacrifice fly, and doubled in the sixth. Xander Bogaerts plated Fernando Tatis Jr. with a bloop single. The Padres stole three bases in one inning. Samad Taylor drove in two more with a two-out single in the sixth. Final score: 5-2 Padres.
The Braves are now 0-9 against San Diego at Petco Park dating back to the 2024 Wild Card Series.
UnJacked Up Meter: 97/100 Now comes the fun part. The Dodgers are coming to town. Walker Buehler starts Friday against his original team. If the Padres play like they did against Atlanta, this NL West rivalry is about to get really jacked up.
DANSBY SWANSON IS IN A VIDEO GAME RIGHT NOW
While the Mets were busy making six errors and losing their fifth straight game…
Dansby Swanson went 5-for-9 across a Cubs doubleheader sweep at Citi Field and drove in 11 runs. ELEVEN. In one day.
He hit a tiebreaking three-run homer in the sixth inning of Game 1, added a grand slam in the eighth, then came back in Game 2 and went 3-for-5 with an RBI triple and a two-run single.
That’s a Cubs franchise record for RBI in a doubleheader — breaking Ron Santo’s mark from 1970. It’s also the most RBI in a single day by any player since Mark Whiten did it in 1993.
Oh — and Swanson now has 15 RBI in three games in New York. Three games. The Mets have one more game to go.
Jacked Up Meter for the Mets: 100/100
MOOKIE BETTS HITS NO. 300
While Dansby Swanson was putting up video game numbers at Citi Field…
Mookie Betts quietly hit the 300th home run of his career. A solo shot off Joe Ryan in the second inning as the Dodgers swept the Twins.
He went 3-for-4 on the day. Shohei Ohtani struck out eight and improved to 8-2 with a 1.58 ERA.
Future Hall of Famer. No debate anymore.
THE MOST JACKED UP THING IN SPORTS
Professional athletes are dropping like flies.
The World Cup has already seen multiple stars ruled out before or during the tournament. MLB’s injury list gets longer every single day. Teams spend hundreds of millions on players… only to watch them pull a hamstring jogging to first base.
Sports science has never been better. Everyone still gets hurt. That’s pretty jacked up.
JACKED UP PLAY OF THE DAY
Dansby Swanson’s 11-RBI explosion across a doubleheader. That stat line belongs in a video game.
JACKED UP INJURY OF THE DAY
Juan Soto is dealing with back tightness and is day-to-day. Very jacked news for Mets fans who are already having the worst week imaginable.
UNJACKED UP TEAM OF THE DAY
Brazil. Three goals. Knockout stage. Vinicius unplayable. Neymar back. Next.
SEE YOU TOMORROW
The World Cup group stage is wrapping up. The MLB trade rumor mill is heating up. Someone will probably get hurt. Someone will probably make a terrible decision. And we’ll be here to tell you exactly how jacked up it was.
