Jacked Up Highlights — June 23, 2026

It’s Tuesday. The World Cup rolls on and MLB’s injury report keeps growing. Here’s everything jacked up today.

WORLD CUP 2026 — GERMANY KEEPS LOSING PEOPLE

Germany’s Nico Schlotterbeck has been ruled out for the remainder of the World Cup. That stings. And it comes on top of an already brutal pre-tournament stretch for the Germans — Serge Gnabry went down with an adductor injury before a ball was even kicked, and now their defense is taking hits too.

Germany called up RB Leipzig’s Assan Ouédraogo as a replacement after Lennart Karl suffered a severe left thigh muscle bundle tear during a training session in Chicago. A training session. The man got hurt in practice. That’s jacked up.

Brazil meanwhile is basically running a MASH unit. Already without Rodrygo and Estevão, Neymar’s health is one of the biggest storylines surrounding the Selecao. Neymar is recovering from a calf injury and hasn’t returned to full training. If Brazil goes deep in this tournament it’ll be one of the great stories in World Cup history given how banged up they are.

Xavi Simons is missing this summer’s World Cup after rupturing his ACL during Tottenham’s win at Wolves. The 23-year-old is out for eight months. Gone before the biggest tournament of his career. That’s the cruelest kind of jacked up.

MLB — COMIN’ BACK AND GOIN’ DOWN

Today’s MLB injury report is a revolving door — guys coming back, guys going down, and a few that somehow got hit in the face.

Shane Bieber (Blue Jays) will make his 2026 debut on June 23 after dealing with right elbow inflammation. Welcome back Shane — hope the elbow holds.

Corey Seager (Rangers) is progressing to live batting practice today after a concussion. Concussions in baseball are no joke — good to see him taking it slow.

And then there’s this gem — Adley Rutschman (Orioles) was placed on the 7-day concussion IL after being hit on the left ear by a throw from his own shortstop Colt Emerson. Your own teammate took you out. That is extremely jacked up.

Francisco Pérez (Tigers) was placed on the 10-day IL with a left orbital fracture but is not expected to suffer any long-term damage to his eyesight. An orbital fracture. In baseball. Jacked up doesn’t even cover it.

On the positive side — Brandon Woodruff (Brewers) was tremendous in his return from the IL. And Mickey Moniak (Angels) is back after ankle tendinitis. Small wins in a season full of casualties.
