Turkey Jacks Us Up in the 98th Minute — We’re Moving On Anyway

It’s Friday. Someone got jacked up in the last second of a game. The NBA just got a potential superstar. And the most jacked up rivalry series of the summer starts tonight.

Welcome to JackedUpSportz.

WORLD CUP 2026

TURKEY. 98TH MINUTE. JACKED UP GOAL

The USA lost 3-2 to Turkey last night at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. None of it matters for our bracket — we were already through. But it still stings.

Here’s the quick version. Auston Trusty scored in the 3rd minute — his first international goal ever, the second-fastest US World Cup goal in history. Turkey came back through 21-year-old Arda Guler, who nutmegged Pulisic (Jacked), scored once and set up another to give Turkey a 2-1 halftime lead. Pochettino sent out nine new starters to protect yellow-carded players from suspension. Sebastian Berhalter — yes, the coach’s son — came on and fired an absolute rocket from 20 yards out to make it 2-2 in the 49th minute. Pulisic came on to a roaring ovation. The USA controlled most of the second half. We were literally seconds from a draw.

Then Kaan Ayhan happened. 98th minute. Substitute. On the field for six minutes. Tapped in a loose ball off a scramble. Game over. Turkey wins their only match of a tournament they were already eliminated from.

Jacked Up Meter: 7.1/10 The 98th minute is maximum jacked up energy. A reserve defender from an already-eliminated team ruins our unbeaten run with the last kick of the game. That is objectively jacked up.

The Good News Pochettino’s plan worked perfectly. Tyler Adams, Antonee Robinson, Chris Richards, and Folarin Balogun are all rested and yellow-card free. Pulisic got competitive minutes. The team looked sharp for large stretches.

Round of 32. July 1. Santa Clara. Bosnia-Herzegovina. No more rotations. No more rest days. The real World Cup starts now and the USA is healthy, dangerous, and ready.

UnJacked Up Outlook: 9.2/10

THE 2026 NBA DRAFT HAPPENED AND IT WAS ACTUALLY NOT JACKED UP

The Washington Wizards selected AJ Dybantsa No. 1 overall on Wednesday night at Barclays Center. The BYU freshman averaged 25.5 points per game this season — leading the entire nation in scoring — and broke a 48-year-old program record in his first year. At 6’9″ with elite shot creation, he’s drawing comparisons to a young Tracy McGrady.

He’s 19. He already has a $212 million teammate in Trae Young. Washington might actually be interesting for the first time in a decade.

Darryn Peterson went No. 2 to Utah. Cameron Boozer — son of former NBA player Carlos Boozer — went No. 3 to Memphis.

Most Jacked Up Draft Fact Dybantsa is the first player out of BYU ever taken No. 1 overall. He’s also the first player to lead the nation in scoring AND go No. 1 since Glenn Robinson in 1994.

Jacked Up or UnJacked Up? For Wizards fans — deeply UnJacked Up. This is the most exciting thing to happen in Washington sports in years. For everyone else — watching a 19-year-old try to carry a franchise is always a little jacked up.

DODGERS VS PADRES STARTS TONIGHT AND IT’S ALREADY JACKED UP

The most compelling series of the weekend begins tonight at Petco Park. Here’s why this is jacked up before a single pitch is thrown.

TONIGHT — Walker Buehler vs His Old Team

Walker Buehler pitches against the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight. The team he won a World Series with. The team that reportedly offered him $20 million to come back. The team he turned down to sign a minor league deal with San Diego instead.

After a nightmare year in Boston — 5.45 ERA — he rebuilt himself from the ground up and earned his way into the Padres rotation. He’s been excellent lately with a 2.05 ERA over his last five starts.

Tonight he faces the Dodgers. At Petco. With the crowd behind him.

That is an extremely unjacked up storyline and we are here for it.

The Dodgers are countering with Roki Sasaki, who has given up 10 runs in his last two starts combined. Sasaki is not exactly coming in hot.

SATURDAY — Yamamoto vs Vásquez

Yoshinobu Yamamoto, World Series MVP, 2.65 ERA, went seven innings against the Padres earlier this year and gave up one run. He starts Game 2.

Randy Vásquez gets the ball for San Diego. He just gave up seven runs in 3.1 innings in his worst start of the year.

Jacked Up Meter for Vásquez’s assignment: 8/10

SUNDAY — King vs Sheehan

Michael King just threw seven shutout innings against the Braves. He starts Game 3 for the Dodgers.

Emmet Sheehan has a 7.31 ERA in June and has lost four straight. He starts for San Diego.

The Stakes Dodgers: 52-29. Padres: 42-37. Nine games back. The Padres just swept the Braves and have real momentum. If they take this series they cut the lead to six and make July genuinely interesting. If the Dodgers take two or three it’s Jacked City for the Padres hopes for the NL West title.

Tonight matters. Watch it.

UNJACKED UP PLAY OF THE DAY

Sebastian Berhalter. 20 yards. Low missile into the corner. 2-2. That shot had no business being that clean from a guy getting his first real World Cup minutes.

MOST JACKED UP MOMENT OF THE NIGHT

98th minute. Last kick of the game. USJ (Jacked)

UNJACKED UP MOVE OF THE DAY

Pochettino protecting four yellow-carded starters by rotating the entire lineup. Criticized before the game. Completely vindicated after it.
