⚾ MLB — SECOND HALF OPENS TODAY

🔴 THE JACKED LIST — OUT & HURTING

Shohei Ohtani — Los Angeles Dodgers — Left Knee

Ohtani had his knee drained during the All-Star break and sat out the All-Star Game. He’s back hitting — 21 home runs on the season — but his return to pitching is targeted for August. Any time Ohtani’s knee needs medical attention it’s a situation worth watching. Dodgers open the second half TONIGHT at Yankee Stadium.

Matt Chapman — San Francisco Giants — Abdominal Strain

Chapman landed on the IL July 1 with an abdominal strain he’d apparently been dealing with since April. He’s been shut down from baseball activities and remains out heading into the second half. No clear return date.

Victor Bericoto — San Francisco Giants — Left Oblique

On the 10-day IL since July 10 after exiting a game with an oblique strain. Expected back in the second half.

Blake Snell — Los Angeles Dodgers — Left Elbow

Still on the 60-day IL but faced hitters during the All-Star break. Return targeted for early August. The Dodgers need him badly in the second half rotation.

Tyler Glasnow — Los Angeles Dodgers — Lower Back

Threw a bullpen session during the break. Return targeted for August. The Dodgers rotation is going to look completely different by September if these guys come back healthy.

Corey Seager — Texas Rangers — Back

Still on the IL. No clear return date heading into the second half. Rangers desperately need him back.

Byron Buxton — Minnesota Twins — Right Hip

Still on the IL. Still no timetable. Still Buxton.

Aaron Judge — New York Yankees — Ribs

Judge had imaging done during the break and is expected back but his exact availability for tonight’s Dodgers series opener is unclear. Yankees need him healthy badly — Dodgers come to town tonight.

Randy Vasquez — San Diego Padres — Ankle

Still recovering. No return date. Still praying for him.

Lucas Giolito — San Diego Padres — Right Elbow

Still on the IL. The Padres bullpen heads into the second half still Jacked Up. They open tonight at Kansas City.

🟢 THE UNJACKED LIST — RETURNING & REHABBING

Ronald Acuña Jr. — Atlanta Braves — Hamstring

Acuña began a rehab assignment during the All-Star break and is closing in on a return. The Braves host Texas tonight — Acuña could be back within days. If he returns healthy Atlanta becomes a completely different team in the second half.

Daniel Susac — San Francisco Giants — Lower Back

On track to return during the Giants series at Seattle July 17-19. The catcher has been on the IL since June 26 and his return gives the Giants a boost at a thin position.

Edwin Diaz — Los Angeles Dodgers — Right Elbow

Tossed a scoreless inning in his first rehab game. Getting very close to a return. The Dodgers bullpen is about to get a significant upgrade.

Francisco Lindor — New York Mets — Left Calf

On rehab assignment. Expected back shortly after the break. Mets need him desperately.

Jordan Montgomery — Texas Rangers — Left UCL

Made four sharp rehab starts and is expected back right after the break. Rangers need him in the rotation immediately — they open tonight vs Atlanta.

Germán Márquez — San Diego Padres — Right Forearm

Has been sharp in Triple-A El Paso with a 2.12 ERA across rehab appearances. Getting close to a return. The Padres bullpen needs all the arms it can get.

⚠️ SECOND HALF WATCH — PADRES

The Padres are 3.5 games out of the wild card. The bullpen is still Jacked Up — Vasquez and Giolito both out, Brito called up to help. But Germán Márquez is getting close in Triple-A and could provide a boost soon. Tonight at Kansas City matters. Let’s go Friars.
