THE JACKED LIST: AUGUST 19, 2026

Who’s hurt. Who’s out. Who’s coming back and when.

THE JACKED LIST

Jason Adam, Padres

Right shoulder

Adam is on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder strain. An MRI showed a subscapularis strain without major structural damage. He played catch from about 90 feet on August 17, reported no pain and is targeting a September return.

For a Padres team trying to chase down the Dodgers, getting another bullpen weapon back would be a big deal.

Until then:

JACKED UP.

Ramón Laureano, Padres

Right hip

Laureano is on the 60-day injured list after undergoing surgery on June 5 to repair a torn labrum in his right hip. The Padres list a possible October return, but say 2027 is more likely.

This remains a significant long-term injury.

VERY JACKED UP.

Casey Schmitt, Giants

Left knee

Schmitt is on the 10-day injured list after undergoing surgery on July 31 for a torn meniscus in his left knee. The Giants described the procedure as a debridement of his lateral meniscus and said he would spend six to eight weeks rehabbing. His return this season remains uncertain.

The Giants should be using the rest of this season to figure out which players belong on the next good Giants team.

Losing developmental time doesn’t help.

JACKED UP.

Matt Gage, Giants

Left elbow

Gage is on the 60-day injured list with a left elbow strain. After receiving a PRP injection in July, he began a flat-ground throwing progression and had reached 90 feet as of the Giants’ latest update. There is no firm return date.

JACKED UP.

THE UNJACKED LIST

Joe Musgrove, Padres

Tommy John rehab

Musgrove made his third rehab start on August 14 for Triple-A El Paso, throwing 70 pitches over 4 2/3 innings. He allowed five runs, struck out five and walked one. Padres manager Craig Stammen said the outing was very positive. San Diego still lists his expected return as late August or September.

The important part is that Musgrove is throwing, building his workload and getting closer.

And the timing couldn’t be much more interesting.

The Padres are playing meaningful baseball.

Fernando Tatis Jr. is going nuts.

And San Diego is trying to make the Dodgers start checking the rearview mirror.

If Musgrove can rejoin this rotation for the stretch run?

That’s potentially a huge addition.

UNJACKED.

Nick Pivetta, Padres

Right elbow

Pivetta’s rehab assignment was paused after he exited his August 4 outing after 14 pitches because of elbow tightness. He has continued playing catch and building up at the team’s complex in Peoria, but there is no firm return date.

Getting Pivetta back would give San Diego another weapon for the stretch run.

UNJACKED WATCH.

MOST JACKED

RAMÓN LAUREANO

Hip surgery and a recovery that could keep him out for the rest of the season.

That’s an easy call.

VERY JACKED UP.

MOST UNJACKED

JOE MUSGROVE

This is the one Padres fans should be watching.

Forget the early rehab box scores.

He’s throwing.

He’s building his workload.

He’s getting closer.

And he’s potentially working his way back toward a Padres team that suddenly looks like it could make the rest of the NL West race very interesting.

VERY UNJACKED.

Who’s hurt.

Who’s out.

Who’s coming back.

And when.

That’s The Jacked List.
