JUS Prediction – Padres will win the NL West!
August 15, 2026 | JackedUpSportz
Welcome back to JackedUpSportz, where everything in sports falls into one of two categories.
JACKED UP = bad.
UNJACKED = good.
And today we’ve got a pretty easy place to start.
The Padres won again.
That’s six straight.
The Giants lost to the Rockies.
That’s considerably less exciting.
And the Dodgers won too, because apparently we’re not allowed to have a completely enjoyable night of baseball.
THE PADRES HAVE WON SIX STRAIGHT
Okay, San Diego.
This is getting serious.
The Padres beat Cleveland 7-5 last night after falling behind early, and they’ve now won six consecutive games and 16 of their last 20.
This isn’t just a nice little winning streak anymore.
The Padres are 66-57 and have moved ahead of Arizona into second place in the NL West.
More importantly, they’re currently holding the second National League Wild Card spot.
Remember earlier this week when we were talking about San Diego trying to catch Arizona?
Caught them.
Passed them.
UNJACKED.
AND THE OFFENSE KEEPS SHOWING UP
This is what I’ve been waiting for.
San Diego fell behind Cleveland 3-0 and didn’t fold.
Xander Bogaerts hit a two-run homer.
Fernando Tatis Jr. homered again, his fifth home run in nine games.
And Luis Campusano had two doubles and drove in three runs.
That’s after Campusano delivered the walk-off hit Wednesday to finish the sweep of Milwaukee.
The Padres aren’t just winning 2-1 games and praying the bullpen survives.
They’re scoring.
They’re coming from behind.
Different guys are contributing.
That’s what a team playing meaningful baseball in August is supposed to look like.
VERY UNJACKED.
SIX STRAIGHT CHANGES THE CONVERSATION
The Padres have gone from chasing the playoff race to becoming one of the hottest teams in baseball.
Six straight wins.
Sixteen wins in 20 games.
Second place in the NL West.
And now 66-57.
That’s a team nobody is going to want to see in October if they keep playing like this.
I still want to see this offense do it consistently.
But right now?
No complaints.
Keep going.
ARIZONA ISN’T GOING AWAY
Unfortunately for San Diego, Arizona also won last night.
The Diamondbacks shut out Atlanta 2-0 behind an incredible start from Brandon Pfaadt.
Pfaadt threw seven scoreless innings, allowed only two hits and struck out seven. Since returning from Triple-A at the end of June, he’s 7-0 with an ERA a little over 1.00.
Arizona is now 65-58, one game behind San Diego.
So if anybody thought the Diamondbacks were going to politely step aside and let the Padres have the Wild Card spot, apparently not.
Arizona staying in the fight: UNJACKED.
Unless you’re a Padres fan.
Then it’s mildly annoying.
THE GIANTS LOST TO THE ROCKIES
And now we get to my Giants.
Colorado beat San Francisco 5-2 at Oracle Park.
Yes.
Colorado.
The Giants are now 50-72.
Kyle Freeland came into the game with an ERA over 6.00 and proceeded to hold the Giants to one run over eight innings.
That’s not ideal.
Actually, that’s pretty much the definition of:
JACKED UP.
BUT BRYCE ELDRIDGE HOMERED AGAIN
There is one thing I care about with the Giants right now.
Play the kids.
And Bryce Eldridge continues to give us a reason to watch.
Eldridge hit his 13th home run of the season last night. At 21, that moved him into a tie for the third-most home runs by a Giants rookie age 21 or younger.
That’s what I want from the rest of this season.
I don’t care whether the Giants finish 18 games under .500 or 22 games under .500.
Find out which young players belong on the next good Giants team.
If Eldridge keeps hitting bombs while they do it, even better.
UNJACKED.
AND OF COURSE THE DODGERS WON
Los Angeles beat Milwaukee 3-1.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto struck out nine over six innings and allowed one run.
Andy Pages homered.
Tommy Edman homered.
The Dodgers improved to 74-49.
The good news?
Milwaukee is still ahead of them for the best record in the National League.
The bad news?
The Dodgers are now only one game behind them.
JACKED UP.
THE NL WEST RIGHT NOW
Here’s where things stand:
Dodgers: 74-49
Padres: 66-57
Diamondbacks: 65-58
Giants: 50-72
Rockies: 49-73
The division race itself still belongs to Los Angeles unless something dramatic happens.
But the race behind them has gotten a lot more interesting.
San Diego is hot.
Arizona is still right there.
And the Padres suddenly look like a team capable of doing some damage.
AROUND THE SPORTS WORLD
Football is officially creeping back into our lives.
The NFL’s first full preseason week wraps up today with seven games around the league.
And because I’m a 49ers fan, there was actually something interesting in San Francisco’s preseason opener despite the 19-13 loss to Tennessee.
Rookie quarterback Kurtis Rourke completed 12 of 14 passes for 101 yards before leaving with a rib injury. Rookie receiver De’Zhaun Stribling also had seven catches for 63 yards.
Do preseason results matter?
Not really.
Does it matter that Kurtis Rourke spells his first name with a K and not a C? Yes!
UNJACKED.
TODAY’S JUS SCORECARD
Padres winning six straight: VERY UNJACKED
Padres winning 16 of 20: EXTREMELY UNJACKED
Tatis homering five times in nine games: UNJACKED
Campusano driving in three more runs: UNJACKED
Arizona refusing to go away: UNJACKED
Giants losing to Colorado: VERY JACKED UP
Bryce Eldridge hitting another homer: UNJACKED
Dodgers winning again: JACKED UP
Football coming back: UNJACKED
The Padres are the story right now.
Earlier this week they were trying to catch Arizona.
Now they’re ahead of them.
They swept the best team in baseball and followed it by going on the road and winning again.
Six straight.
Sixteen of twenty.
Keep this going and we’re going to have a very interesting September.
And Giants fans?
Just keep watching Eldridge.
At this point, that’s enough.
