Up 6-0 in the Second and We Still Lost — The Padres Are Going to Give Us All a Medical Episode
Let’s talk about what happened yesterday.
The San Diego Padres led the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-0 in the top of the second inning.
Six. To. Zero.
In the second inning.
And they lost 12-7.
I don’t want to hear about momentum. I don’t want to hear about bullpen management. I don’t want to hear about anything except the fact that we were up SIX RUNS before the game even got started and somehow handed the Dodgers a 12-7. It’s not just that the Padres game up 12 runs, they only scored 1 run after the second inning.
Randy Vasquez Fainted
Here’s where it gets medically interesting.
Padres pitcher Randy Vasquez took a ball off the ankle during the game and was taken to the hospital to get it checked out. While there, he fainted.
It’s being reported that he got checked out and it ok and we’re thankful for that. We’re praying for a speedy recovery.
It’s also being reported that approximately 85% of Padres fans experienced their own fainting episode at some point between the end of the second inning and the final out.
Symptoms included:
- Dizziness upon seeing the Dodgers score their 7th run
- Loss of consciousness somewhere around the 10th run
- Full collapse at run 12
- Waking up confused, checking the score, and immediately wishing they hadn’t
